What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer formed due to exposure to asbestos dust and fibers.
What does Mesothelioma cause?
Mesothelioma causes the fibers surrounding the lungs, heart, intestines, and other body tissues to develop cancerous growths – tumors – which are extremely difficult to diagnose and treat. Normally, the patient suffering from Mesothelioma dies due to the difficulty in detecting the disease at early stages, and also due to the fact that the treatment is also very difficult. By the time Mesothelioma is detected, the cancer is spread to multiple tissues.
Mesothelioma is caused by inhalation or ingestion of asbestos dust. The asbestos uually find its way into the lungs, heart, intestines, and stomach. It may travel to other important tissues and cavities also through the blood stream and other body fluids. It causes the vital body organs to develop cancerous cells. Early detection is very difficult. It is also found that the patient dies at a very early age because of the vital organs being involved.
Is Mesothelioma curable?
Mesothelioma is a deadly disease. The early detection is very difficult, and so is the diagnosis and the treatment. Most of the patients suffering from advanced Mesothelioma cannot survive. A cure for Mesothelioma is still out of reach of modern science and medicine. Therefore, prognosis of this deadly disease is almost always fatal.
